Real Food Icing Sugar- What’s that
Can you make your own Icing Sugar?
I have shied away from certain recipes because I have not wanted to use refined icing sugar. Then I was introduced to a way of making your own icing sugar by Halle from Whole Lifestyle Nutrition and it changed what I could make!
Combining the nutrient density of coconut sugar with the fine quality of the tapioca flour you get an excellent result in just seconds!
This icing sugar (powdered sugar) can be used to make marzipan, icing, pastries and can be used to dust cookies and so on. It tastes great and I have loved having it back in my store cupboard!
You can easily make a big batch of this and store it in an airtight glass jar like this one.
- 1 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tbs Tapioca flour (you can also use arrowroot powder)
- In a dry jug for your high speed blender or food processor.
- Start slowly and then allow the two to mix together (it will be like sugar dust dancing!). The sugar will become lighter but will still be brown. Wait to open the lid otherwise you will have a puff of powder sugar and sneezing may ensue!
